In The City – Choking on the dust

Domine, exaudi vocem meamfor I am begging youto help me find a wayout of these unnatural places, where so many racesco-exist with one another, yet none treat the otheras sister or brother. I am choking on the dustof concrete, tar and steel, and must walk far before I feelthat I can breathe again, where the rain comes without dirtand […]

Arriving Slowly – From the legacy of damp

The leaking gutter which has since been fixed leaves a presence behind. Of velvet touch and hair combed back smoothly, her insidious, creeping, thickening, presence is symptomatic of chlorophyll hard at work. Combined with the legacy of damp and a bit of warmth from the sun, it culminates in the photosynthetic processing glory of the plant class “musci” known to the rest of us as moss. FraserAugust 2023
Streetball – Kids with skills

No double dribbleand no travelling, leaves me marvellingat those kidswith the skillsof streetballpounding in their veins. No calling of fouls,no rows, just love of the game.Rejecting B-Ball,yet holding heads tall, and putting me to shame. If I could applywhat I see in their eyes,my life would be happy and free. They choose independenceand principles, and hard work too.I recommend them […]

Underground – Labyrinthine burrows

Life passing and worms working.Flesh from the bones, and maggotswrithing through the stench and decay.A life ever after, all the souls away. And we are left with the dank, earthy, labyrinthine burrows beneath our feet, adding depth and richness to our soil.A thousand years pass, the farmers toil. So it is that lifetimes pass unannouncedand humankind falls […]
Aqua – Delightful droplets

Crystal clear, clichéd,glistening, glass ofdelightful droplets, from condensing cloudsof mesmerising moisture.Roaring, running riversand restful reservoirs,I salute you. Life-giving,planet-dominating,body-constituting,thirst-slaking,force of nature,I love the way youslip down my throat, and refresh, re-hydrateand renew like no otherliquid form on earth.I am sated and alert. Nine-and-Three Quarters Things I Do Every Day – What else am I to do?

Just pausing to poke some fun at myself…… Breathe — as long as I remember to take the meds and attach the headset at night Moan about something — I don’t think I’m very good at it, despite working at it for so long — I could just go on and on and on explaining […]
